所以,昨晚我发出了正式通知,告知今年“开放实验室”文集的所有入围者,在一小时之内,Twitter 上一片沸腾,人们分享他们对这个消息的兴奋。这太棒了——我喜欢给好人带来好消息——但最初的计划是在一月份的某个时候正式宣布。不过,我已经准备好这篇文章了,现在看来没有太多必要等到一月份,对吧?
首先,我想重申 Ed Yong 在 Twitter 上说的一些话。这是一本选集,收录了 2011 年部分最佳博客文章中的 51 篇,而不是 51 篇“最佳”文章。这是一个关键的区别,因为,让我们面对现实,很可能有很多没有被提名的遗珠,而且我们很想收录一些文章,但为了将数量减少到 51 篇而不得不删减。此外,有些东西在博客形式中效果很好,但不能很好地转化为印刷版。(不过,我对未来电子书的可能性寄予厚望。)
当我说从 720 篇投稿中筛选出入围者是一个非常痛苦的过程时,我绝对不是在开玩笑。没有所有志愿者评审员的帮助,我绝对无法做到(完整的感谢名单将在稍后公布)。即便如此,Bora 和我还是进行了大量的互相挠头苦恼,尤其是在我们被迫做出的最后 10-12 个删减名额上。

最后,我们着眼于文集的整体平衡,并挑选了那些符合我们所缺少的要求的文章——幽默、个人反思、短篇、长篇、主题多样性和作者“声音”等等——但任何一篇被删减的十几篇“竞争者”也会成为文集的很好的补充。(作为今年的编辑,我自动将我自己的提名文章从评选中移除;当有这么多其他有价值的文章正在考虑时,我简直无法证明将其纳入是合理的。)我认为我们最终得到了一个良好、多样化的组合,并且(令人惊讶的是)男性和女性博主几乎完美的 50/50 分配比例,尽管这不是有意为之。
