河豚鱼基因组基本上包含与人类基因组相同的基因和调控序列——但没有所有所谓的垃圾 DNA。事实上,人类基因组包含近 30 亿个碱基对,而河豚的基因组只有 3.65 亿个这样的信息单位。科学家们表示,有了紧凑的河豚基因组作为指导,在相对杂乱的人类基因组中定位基因将容易得多。
